Why a school

Where our journey in education began

Our journey in school education began with Brain Discovery Global School, a CBSE-affiliated day boarding school founded in April 2023. It aims to give holistic education that builds both academic excellence and strong moral values.

It has grown quickly to more than 450 students, guided by 33 educators. The campus covers 10,000 square metres of green land, with more than 25,000 sq ft built up, on the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway at Harora. Seven buses bring children in from the villages around it.

Nukkad natak on cyber safety

At the school’s annual sports and cultural event, students performed a nukkad natak (street play) on cyber safety. In black kurtas and white sashes, with a tambourine keeping the beat, they acted out its scenes, and their placards pointed the audience to the national cyber-crime reporting portal, cybercrime.gov.in.

Health and hygiene survey in Sayyed Mazra

Students went door to door in the nearby locality of Sayyed Mazra with survey forms, asking residents about personal and oral hygiene, how they keep it up, and where they dispose of their garbage. Each of the school’s four houses (Red, Green, Blue and Yellow, the groups students are divided into for activities) surveyed its own set of homes, and each house captain presented the survey on camera.

Cleanliness drive

Part of the school’s Health and Hygiene Week. In gloves and with buckets, the older students cleared litter from the gardens, lawns and flower beds around the campus, and the scouts and guides cleaned the field and play area the next day. The youngest classes tidied their own classrooms.

Hygiene posters

During the same Health and Hygiene Week, students drew posters on hygiene at their desks. The older classes showed when to wash your hands (before and after you eat, after using the restroom, after playing outside), a healthy home, and the things for personal hygiene, from toothbrush and soap to towel and comb. The younger classes headed their sheets “Get your best smile ever”.

Healthy and unhealthy food sorting game

Also part of Health and Hygiene Week. The pre-primary classes played a sorting game: one at a time, children came up to a table of apples, bananas, packets of chips and boxed drinks and put each one in the tray marked Healthy Food or Unhealthy Food. In another classroom they played in small groups around a table while the rest of the class watched.

Handwash demonstration

Also part of Health and Hygiene Week. In the pre-primary classes, children took turns at a table with a dish of liquid soap and a bowl of water with specks floating on it, dipping a finger in the soap and then in the water, a teacher guiding the youngest by the hand. They also practised washing their hands with soap at the sinks.

Special assemblies

The first two mornings of Health and Hygiene Week opened with special assemblies. On the first the senior classes gathered on the lawn, teachers on the balcony above, and went through stretching exercises in rows. On the second the assembly moved indoors, where the head girl and other students read out to the classes from their sheets.

Health check-up

The Health and Hygiene Week (8–10 October) opened with a health check-up in the school hall. Class by class, the children had their height measured against a chart on the wall and stood on the scale to be weighed, then sat at the doctor’s table, where the results were written up on a form for each child. Their classmates waited their turn on the mats.

Health check-up

Part of the school’s Health and Hygiene Week (7–11 October 2024). On 9 October two visiting doctors, one a paediatrician, saw the pre-primary and primary classes one child at a time and wrote up each check-up, and children were measured against the height chart on the wall. On 16 October the senior students had their check-up in the same hall, including an eye test.

Tree plantation drive

Classes took turns planting saplings around the campus, along the boundary wall and in the garden beds, and watered them in together. The nursery class coloured “Save Me” tree sheets for the day.
